Nominations in PAF Board

Kathmandu/ Five individuals have been nominated to the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Board as members.
Those nominated are Narayan Koirala, Bijaya Naryan Shrestha, Sadhana Ghimire Bhetuwal, Mahadev Badu and Bishwa Shanti Bista.
A meeting today of the PAF, chaired by Prime Minister and the PAF Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, made a decision to this effect.
The meeting decided to conduct province-level seminars on the theme, ‘Poverty Alleviation, Business Promotion and Prosperity’, enlisting the participation of the local level elected people’s representatives.
Similarly, the meeting formed a taskforce for formulating the next strategy paper of the PAF. Joint Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister is the coordinator of the taskforce. An Under-Secretary each from the National Planning Commission, the Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Finance are the members while the representative from PAF is the member-secretary of the taskforce.
The taskforce has been given one month for preparing the strategy.
The PAF meeting has also decided to request, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to implement poverty alleviation programmes in the districts in the mountainous region close to the Nepal-Tibet border.
The PAF is to implement the poverty alleviation programmes in a more effective manner in the rural municipalities and municipalities, and to make the Fund multi-purpose and diversified.
In the meeting, Prime Minister and PAF chairman Dahal directed the Fund officials to make its works efficient breaking away from mere formality and carrying out programmes so that the target groups experience a change in their living standard.
The meeting endorsed the budget One billion 687 million 665 thousand that the government has allocated to the PAF for the fiscal year 2017-18.
